This touchline respect barrier is lightweight, easy to erect, it takes as long to put up as it does to walk round the area to be fenced off. It is easy to dismantle with the unique reeling system and can be operated by one person. The Don't X the Line Campaign was founded by Mal in 2003 when he had witnessed one too many unacceptable incidents in his role as an amateur league referee. He said: "I was walking across Stanley Park with a fellow referee and decided that something had to be done. Between Anfield and Goodison Park was an inspirational place to have this idea." One of the worst incidents of the time was a pitch invasion by 60 armed youths. The campaign grew, quickly gaining support from all three Merseyside league clubsalong with the F.A. and the P. F.A.
